Hi, and thank you for stopping by.
I am Noemi, and I offer counselling that honours your journey to understanding yourself and finding your own path. The name of my practice, Essència, comes from my native Catalan (and is similar in my other native language, Spanish, esencia) and means “essence.” To me, counselling is about reconnecting with your own essence, who you truly are at your core, beyond expectations, labels, and what life has conditioned you to believe.

My background

Born and raised in Barcelona, in a time where Mental Health was not acknowledged or understood, I was a naturally creative child with a neurodivergent brain. I grew up with a strong curiosity about people and the ways our inner and outer worlds shape who we become.
I studied music from a young age, completed formal studies in Humanities and developed my skills in visual arts through self-directed learning. All of these experiences have informed my understanding of human expression and the many ways we communicate beyond words.

Moving to England also gave me first-hand experience of how culture and environment can shape us as human beings. Living between different worlds, I have understood the profound ways in which our environment and relationships influence how we think, feel, communicate and see ourselves and others. This continues to inform my culturally sensitive and person-centred approach to counselling.

My professional path started out as a tutor and teacher but naturally evolved towards community-focused wellbeing roles. I have supported individuals within the NHS, the VCFSE sector, and complex mental healthcare environments and educational settings. All of these experiences reminded me again and again that human connection and authenticity come before systems or rigid structures; that belief guides everything I do in my practice.

My approach

Due to traumatic experiences, society's pressures and other life challenges, we can easily lose sight of who we were before expectations, masking, people-pleasing, and other strategies we use in a world that often values normativity more than authenticity.
I have experienced first hand how powerful it can be to have someone who listens with empathy and without judgement. When we feel safe to be ourselves, it is possible for us to come back home to our inner Truth, our innate wisdom. That understanding is what brought me into this profession and continues to shape how I show up in the therapy room today.

I see the therapeutic relationship as a shared journey based on mutual trust and openness. I also value the therapeutic space and the ‘Here and Now’ as essential elements to the process.

In sessions, I may draw on Philosophy, History, the Arts and Creativity as rich sources of ancient and collective wisdom, offering insight and perspective that can support reflection, self-understanding and personal growth.
