A way of working where movement and Nature can support connection, reflection and awareness.

Walking Therapy is a way of having counselling sessions while moving outdoors, rather than sitting indoors face to face. We walk* side by side at your pace, allowing the natural rhythm of movement and the presence of Nature to support the therapeutic process. Sessions take place in safe, public spaces that also offer enough privacy for meaningful and confidential conversation.

Some of the benefits of walking therapy include:

  • Reducing the intensity of eye contact, which can make talking feel easier and more natural

  • Supporting relaxation and using movement and body awareness as part of the session

  • Encouraging reflection and creativity, inspired by the changing environment

  • Promoting physical wellbeing alongside emotional exploration

  • Providing a grounding, sensory experience through connection with Nature

We can choose Walking Therapy as our regular way of meeting, or decide to have one-off outdoor sessions as part of our process.
All sessions are weather dependent and will go ahead only if it is safe to do so.
I am also a qualified Health Walk Leader, which means I can guide and support our walks with both your wellbeing and safety in mind.

* Wheelchair users and those with limited mobility or lower energy are very welcome. We can adapt sessions by choosing accessible routes or by sitting outdoors, depending on what works best for you.
